Who is the course suitable for?

This course is suitable for Nannies, Au Pairs, Babysitters, Parents and anybody who cares for children and needs basic first aid knowledge. Designed for those wishing to join the voluntary part of the Ofsted Childcare Register (OCR).

Delivered by paediatric specialists it includes both theory and practical sessions.

What does the course include?

  • First Aid Priorities
  • Dealing with an Emergency
  • Choking – Child and Baby
  • Resuscitation (CPR) – Child and Baby
  • Wounds and bleeding
  • Scalds and burns
  • Dealing with the unconscious Child or Baby
  • Treatment for sickness and shock
  • Anaphylaxis
  • Appropriate treatment for minor injuries with Q and A session
  • Childhood illness including febrile convulsions and Meningitis
  • Certification valid for 3years

How will the participants be assessed?

Certification is dependent on successful continuous assessment, there is no formal examination. Those delegates who complete the course, and are deemed to have reached the required standard, are awarded a certificate that is valid for 3 years.

Where will participants attend the course?

This one day (6 hour) course is delivered at your venue or an external venue and can be run at the weekend by prior arrangement.

What will participants do on the course?

Theoretical input and practical exercises where appropriate. The course includes an interactive presentation, course manual for each delegate. There are no additional costs.
